It is a day trip that you visit to the nearby of Addis Ababa if you don’t have enough time to stay in Ethiopia. Sites near by Addis Ababa are Tiya ( monolithic grave marks) ,Melka Kunture ( prehistoric stone tools area) , Adadi Mariam (Rockhewn church of south), Wonchi crater lake, Menagesha Suba park (oldest park of Africa), Blue Nile gorge, Debre Libanos 13th century monastery.
Tiya is among the most important of the roughly 160 archaeological sites discovered so far in the Soddo region, south of Addis Ababa. The site contains 41` monuments, including 32 carved stelae covered with symbols, most of which are difficult to decipher. They are the remains of an ancient Ethiopian culture whose age has not yet been precisely determined.
The site of Melka Kunture was discovered and proposed to the attention of the Ethiopian Archaeological Service for the first time in 1963 by G. Dekker. The same year a French pre-historian archaeologist, G. Bailloud, carried out the first surface surveys and collected important materials and faunal remains.
Debre Libanos is a monastery in Ethiopia, lying northwest of Addis Ababa in the Oromia Region. It was founded in the thirteenth century by Saint Tekle Haymanot, the monastery's chief abbot, called the Ichege, was the second most powerful official in the Ethiopian Church after the Abuna.
