Ethiopia is very photogenic and it will be easy to use at least one roll of 36 exposures per day or fill half your digital camera card. It is advisable you bring a U/V filter and dust cover to protect your camera. Out of Addis Ababa it is hard to find spare camera batteries and digital camera cards so we recommend you bring these with you or to buy before you leave Addis Ababa.

Photography Tips

Taking pictures of very important bridges, national palaces and military compounds, Embassies is prohibited; ask your guide or driver if you can/can’t take pictures

Except the Omo valley people and some places where people are pastoralists, most people in Ethiopia like their picture to be taken. Acceptance for picture is expressed either with smile or with proper positioning oneself for picture. While rejection is expressed through giving oneself back or covering face with hand or cloth.

In some places like the Omo valley you should pay certain amount of fee to take even one shot.

The tourism industry in Ethiopia has undergone through promising growth in the past couple of years. Several reasons might be mentioned to justify the reason but we are certain about the growing number of student tourists from our client’s database. Taste Ethiopia Tours is one of the premier operators of educational student tours and educational travel programs in Ethiopia. We specialize in customized academic, thematic, and cultural touring programs and offer educational tours to all over Ethiopia.

Taste Ethiopia is the perfect fit for student or youth groups interested in a truly enriching educational travel experience, where material taught in the classroom comes to life when visited in person. We can customize our educational tours in immense detail and encourage teachers to incorporate their curriculum into a truly educational travel program. Our knowledgeable educational tour coordinators in Ethiopia are eager to assist in making sure that all the goals and needs of your student tour group are met.

Many of our programs and tours have a volunteer component. We really enjoy this aspect of our trips and believe that the well structured volunteer activities we arrange benefit both our partners and our trip participants.

It’s not tokenism – we do not include volunteer activities simply to make our trip participants feel good about them. Instead, volunteer projects are planned around the expressed needs of a range of community groups, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Volunteer projects allow our participants to really immerse themselves in a place and share an experience with local people - bridging the gap that often exists between visitor and host. The rewards are tangible and often unexpected. Not only will you return home with a sense of satisfaction from completing the work and having made a difference in the world but also with an intimate understanding of a place and its people.

Taste Ethiopia manages travel and reception arrangements for its clients’ local and foreign researchers, on scientific visits and exchange programmes between Ethiopia and overseas Institutions. Ethiopia is known for its varied and rich resources of pale-archeological remains and the flora diversity on the hand had made the country a hub for research.

Working in close liaison with higher education and research organizations, Taste Ethiopia provides researchers on its clients’ programmes with a quality, personalized accommodation and working environment, offering services that extend from travel preparation through to return to the researcher’s country of origin. One of our main advantages is that we act as a one-stop provider covering the whole travel and reception chain, working closely with clients to determine the solutions most propitious to good living and working conditions.
